Almost Done!

After a weekend of sewing and literally nothing else my costume is finally looking like it will in fact be wearable for the weekend!  The ruffles almost killed me, but I am so happy with how it looks!  I think once it is all together with hair and makeup it will look amazing.  The skirt probably weighs about 5 pounds and has at least 30 ruffles.

Here are some pictures through the process:

I have now started to work on the top, which involves quilting a bunch of fabric together to make a vest.  I am so happy with how well it is going, and it is going much quicker than I expected!

I am hoping to have the whole thing done by Thursday night!

What are your Halloween plans?

The Never Ending Costume!

Well I am writing this after literally 5 hours of sewing, and it feels like I have hardly gotten anywhere.  I have been madly sewing ruffles all evening, but when I look at what was accomplished it doesn't look like much.

I had the base of the skirt made from a few weeks ago, but my life has been so busy that I have done no work on it until the last couple of days.  The base of my skirt is huge, and I love it!  This is going to be a "Wicked" ballgown!

I have posted pictures of what I have so far!  It looks great and I am so happy with it, but there is still so much to do.  I hope I can get it done.  I am starting to have doubts.

Cutting out the skirt

The bare bones of my costume.  It took so much fabric just for this part!

Starting the ruffles.  This is proving to be a very time consuming project.

5 hours of work, doesn't look like I have accomplished much.

I am hoping as I get higher up the skirt and it narrows that things get a lot faster!

Let me know what you think!
